From the Manufacturer The 3M™ Green Corp™ Cut-Off Wheel is a durable, fast-cutting wheel used on almost all materials, including fiberglass, stainless steel, mild steel, and aerospace alloys. Constructed with 3M’s high-performing ceramic abrasive grain, these wheels outcut and outlast aluminum oxide wheels. The combination of high speed rating and 3M ceramic abrasive grain content means a cool, sharp, quick cut with minimal product wear. The 3M™ Green Corp™ Cut-Off Wheel must be attached to a cut-off wheel power tool designed specifically for the size of wheel used. For safety, cut-off wheels must be used with ANSI-approved flanges for Type 1 cut-off wheels and must always be used with a wheel guard that is compatible with the size of the wheel. The cut-off wheel must have a maximum operating speed greater than or equal to the maximum speed of the power tool used. Unlike abrasive discs, which shape or sand objects using the disc surface, cut-off wheels provide perpendicular grinding, using the outer edge of the wheel. Abrasive cut-off wheels are typically used for cutting through metal, for example autobody or marine sheet metal, stainless steel tubing, exhaust pipes, clamps, and rusted fasteners. Cut-off wheels are attached to a cut-off tool (sold separately) and must always be used with a wheel guard for safety. 3M’s ceramic abrasive grain is a 3M proprietary ceramic mineral chemically engineered with a unique “stay sharp” crystalline structure, which continually reveals fresh cutting edges on the surface of the workpiece ensuring an exceptionally fast and sustained cut. Formed through a patented process to enhance toughness and hardness of the grain, 3M ceramic abrasives offer a longer service life than non-ceramic abrasives, and can stand up to high pressure production environments even on the toughest materials. These discs enable operators to do more work in less time, for significant gains in both ergonomics and productivity. For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals. Today the company, from its headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota, serves industrial and commercial customers and consumers in nearly 200 countries. Abrasive Systems products, including a complete line of coated abrasives, microfinishing and microreplicated abrasives, and hardware accessories, provide the finishing touch for almost any surface modification application. The 3M brand, across thousands of products, represents consistency, superior quality, and value.
