Supplement the diet with high-calcium vegetables (leafy greens, squash, sweet potato) and occasional protein sources like insects, fish (with bones), eggs (with shells), or chicken. Opossums have a large appetite and a slow metabolism. If feeding free choice, carefully monitor their food intake while encouraging activity. Adjust the amount fed to ensure optimum body weight. Always provide clean, fresh drinking water.
