Small fish, baby fish, and reef aquarium inhabitants readily feed when offered San Francisco Bay Brand Freeze-Dried Cyclops. This nutrient-rich small particle food freely floats in the aquarium and can be used to broadcast or target feed aquatic pets. Best of all, they do not require refrigeration or cultivation. The tiny morsels are readily accepted and digested easily, benefitting water quality, allowing you to enjoy your aquarium. Our Cyclops (Cyclops vicinus) is a copepod species and a member of the zooplankton community that lives in brackish water. They are high in proteins and fatty acids and low in fiber and ash. Cyclops frequently dominate natural plankton, a diverse collection of organisms found in water, and are often the main foods preyed upon by larval fish. We harvest them alive from brackish water estuaries at dawn and transport them to our facility for cleaning, packaging, and quick-freezing on the same day. Freeze-drying is a process where the product is set on shelves in a drying chamber and frozen. Once frozen, the air is removed from the chamber by a vacuum pump, and the shelves are heated. As the shelves warm, the ice sublimates (becomes gas without a liquid phase) out of the product and collects on condensers; this removes the water from the product, so it maintains its structural integrity and flavor. This process makes storage convenient and extends shelf life. The addition of water can quickly and easily rehydrate the original product. Freeze-dried fish foods can be fed whole or crumbled between your fingers. They can be used to soak up liquid vitamins, supplements, or medications for easy administration. Additionally, they provide essential nutrients that help maintain high energy levels, health, and wellness. Fish digest them easily, benefitting water quality, allowing you to enjoy your aquarium.
