Also known as brace bands, these chain link fittings are essential when installing horizontal rails in a fence’s framework. The bands are used in conjunction with rail ends (sold separately). Once you’ve attached the latter part to a piece of horizontal railing, align the rail end’s hole with the holes in this band’s tongs. Secure the two parts together using a carriage bolt. These particular bands are designed for 3” terminal posts, which include gate posts, end posts, and corner posts. Each is fashioned from 14 gauge steel, which in turn has been galvanized. Galvanization imbues the steel with resilience to corrosive effects, such as rust. For fences—which are perpetually exposed to the elements, including rain and dew—this is a must.
