Kaweco SKETCH UP Sign Pencil The earliest still preserved specimen of a mechanical pencil was found in the wreck of the 1791 sunken frigate HMS Pandora which was once sent out to capture the mutiners of the bounty. Since the beginning of the twentieth century, Kaweco has been producing all kinds of mechanical pencils. Kaweco's case pencils became very popular in the 50s due to the flowering period of technical drawing. To this day, the case pencils from the SKETCH UP series are often used for sketching. This model is preferred for technical and artistic drawing. The high-quality mechanism holds a lead with a line width of 5.6 mm and a very soft hardness level of 5B as standard. The metallic body made of high quality brass or aluminium gives these writing instruments that special feel and elegance.
