About StewMac Double-edge Fret File For Narrow/Medium
Our best-selling fret crowning file has precision-cut teeth for accurate fret shaping. This popular traditional 7-3/8" x 5/8" tool-steel file has two different 4" hollow-ground cutting edges, for recrowning narrow and medium fretwire sizes. This file was designed by luthiers for luthiers and is an economical way to get your fretting kit started. The handle is rubber-coated for comfort. Works on stainless frets, too! Modern stainless-steel fretwire is known to be harder than the traditional nickel-silver blends, but our own shop experience indicates the wire does not cause premature wear of files or sandpapers.
