Seymour Duncan Vintage Flat Strat Pickup Features

  • Chime and Sparkle - This flat-pole version of our Vintage Staggered for Strat delivers a shimmering tone with all the chime and sparkle

  • Even String Balance - The Vintage Flat for Stratocaster, with its flat Alnico 5 rod magnets, provides an even string balance for modern guitars with a larger neck radius, and players using lighter gauge strings.

  • Smoother Tone - The flat poles of this pickup give it a little less edge for an overall smoother tone. Aside from the flat pole pieces, we use all of the same materials to build these as we do our vintage Fender style single coil pickups.

  • Made in the USA - Hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, this pickup is potted and comes complete with waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wires, and a traditional keyed bottom plate.

About Seymour Duncan Vintage Flat Strat Pickup

True Single-coil Strat Tone Load your guitar with a Seymour Duncan SSL-2 Vintage Flat Strat pickup, and immerse yourself in euphoric Stratocaster chime and sparkle. This pickup delivers true single-coil Strat tone, but its flat rod magnets are better suited for modern instruments with flatter fingerboards and lighter strings. The flat pole pieces also exhibit less edge for a slightly smoother tone. Great for country, pop, surf, rockabilly, blues, ska, and classic rock, the SSL-2 really shines when you use clean and mildly distorted amp settings. Hand-ground Alnico V magnets and moderate windings give you a vintage output and brightness that work best with warmer-toned ash, alder, or basswood guitars, especially those with rosewood fingerboards.Vintage-correct packing and true single-coil Strat tone Flat pole pieces aside, Seymour Duncan was clearly aiming for a classic Strat design when they built the SSL-2 Vintage Flat Strat pickup. They used the same materials as
