I penned this book not merely as a memoir for my wife, children, and grandchildren to hold dear but also to address the alarming lack of awareness surrounding the Cuban narrative. Throughout our travels across this vast and diverse country, my wife and I encountered a disheartening reality. Many people knew next to nothing about Cuba or its people. Some had never even heard the term "Cuban." This ignorance was not born of malice but simply a lack of exposure. It was this poignant realization that spurred me to document my journey, to share the stories that have shaped my life, and, in doing so, to honor the rich heritage of my homeland. Every word in this book is rooted in truth, devoid of embellishment or fabrication. These are the stories of my life, raw and unfiltered. My path has been arduous, marked by moments of triumph, hardship, and profound lessons. There have been times when I felt lost, moments when I questioned my strength and my faith. But through it all, my faith in our Lord Jesus Christ has been my guiding light, sustaining me through every challenge and enabling me to share my story with unwavering honesty. This narrative encapsulates my experience. The joys and sorrows, the victories and defeats. Some stories will never be told, secrets kept close to the heart, known only to God. By shedding light on my journey, I hope to illuminate the rich tapestry of Cuban heritage and contribute to a deeper understanding among all who call America home. May God continue to bless the United States of America, a land that has provided me refuge and the opportunity to tell my story. Today, I am a proud citizen of the best country in the world, the United States of America. Here, I have found freedom and the chance to build a life my parents could only dream of when they brought me to this great nation. This book is my love letter to the people I have met along the way, to the country that welcomed me, and to my family who has been my rock. In reading these pages, you will find inspiration and perhaps a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices that countless immigrants have made in pursuit of a better life. Thank you for allowing me to share my story, for listening with an open heart, and for embracing the diversity that makes this country so extraordinary.
