Stainless steel 316 for strength and resistance to corrosion
Nylon 6/6 hand wheel for light weight, strength, and resistance to corrosion from most chemicals and solvents
Regulating needle stem type N for coarse regulation and metal-to-metal shut off in liquids
Inline valve for connecting two pipes going in the same direction
Male NPT threads for use with female threaded pipes
Description This Parker V series inline needle valve has a 316 stainless steel body, nylon 6/6 hand wheel, needle stem, integral bonnet, and male National Pipe Taper (NPT) threads on both ends to connect two female threaded pipes going in the same direction. The 316 stainless steel body provides higher strength and more corrosion resistance than stainless steel. Operating temperatures range from -65 to +450 degrees F (-54 to +232 degrees C) at up to 5,000 pounds per square inch gauge (psig) CWP (cold working pressure). The integral bonnet is forged as a part of the valve body and provides strength. The regulating needle stem type N, made of 316 stainless steel, conforms to ASTM International (ASTM) A276 standards for stainless steel bars and shapes, and it provides coarse regulation with metal-to-metal shut-off in liquids. The nylon 6/6 hand wheel, used to raise and lower the stem tip into and out of the flow, is strong yet lightweight and is resistant to corrosion from most chemicals and solvents. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) packing, which resists chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures and is located above the power threads, is suitable for use with most liquids and gases. This valve ships with a black nylon 6/6 hand wheel with white, blue, green, red, and yellow options (available separately). This valve is used for process, instrumentation, and power applications in a variety of industries. Needle valves are used for precise regulations of liquids or gases in a piping system by moving the tip on the valve stem (the needle) into and out of the flow. Both the shape of the stem tip and the fine threads on the valve stem help the needle to be placed at precise points between fully open and fully closed. A needle valve's material type determines its usage—for example, metal valves are suitable for high pressure environments, while composite valves can be used in light weight applications The bonnet on needle valves can be integral (forged or milled as part of the valve body for strength), threaded (for durable pressure-tight seals where removal or replacement is not needed), or union (fits over the valve stem and held in place with a ring nut for repeated removal and replacement). Hand wheels, lever, and T-bar handles are made from various composites and materials that can be color coded for quick identification. These valves are used as either stand-alone valves or as flow control valves for gauges or instruments that could be damaged by flow and pressure fluctuations. Needle valves are suitable for use in fine adjustment and regulated flow applications in industries such as gas, chemical, hot water heating, and in scientific labs and textile manufacturing.
