Sterling Seal CFF7001.1500.062.300X10 7001 Features

  • You will get maximum performance from our gasket materials when you use our gasket installation procedure. [1] clean and inspect the flanges, surface or parts that require gasket

  • 2] clean or replace your bolts with B7 bolts, nuts & washers. B7 bolts are highly recommended, they will pull straight or misaligned flanges tight enough together to properly compress the gaskets

  • 3] lubricate the B7 bolt's thread, nuts, washers and the underside of the head with graphite based compound. Flat washers are recommended to assure even distribution of the bolting force

  • 4] the use of a torque wrench is highly recommended. This assures a longer life and leak free performance. Whether an automotive head gasket or a flange gasket, it should be torqued

  • 5] make four even Increment passes in a 12-6-3-9 o'clock pattern sequence. The appropriate stress on the gasket material you use is Key to its success which varies depending material chosen

About Sterling Seal CFF7001.1500.062.300X10 7001

Sterling Seal & Supply 7001 is a compressed non-asbestos sheet gasket material Produced from a combination of aramid and other synthetic fibers and bonded with nitrile rubber (NBR) it is a very good general service gasket material that has numerous applications in the process industries and in the water and wastewater industry Style 7001 is manufactured through the hot calendar process under rigorous quality control standards that are registered under ISO-9001 Certification Sterling Seal & Supply 7001 is suitable for service handling the following general media categories: water, diluted alkalis, industrial gases, and general chemicals Commonly used in equipment such as valves, pumps, flanges, Doors, mixers, agitators and automotive replacement parts tips & Suggestions:(1) recommended tools: safety Goggles, utility knife, Duck tape, ball hammer, marker, and ruler(2) determine proper gasket material(3) clamp part to a vise minimizing movement(4) set the gasket material around the part surface requiring gasket Clamp or use your free hand to carefully hold material to the part Gently Tap around diameter of part surface scoring the material using ball end of hammer If there are holes in the surface requiring gasket, (Ex: bolt holes, impeller or shaft hole) keep tapping Eventually the material will give way, leaving a perfect-sized hole You can either Tap again until extra material falls from surface edge or pull free material from hole Or you can remove the material once scored from surface and use knife to cut along your score marks why four pass torqueing Example 4 inch ring gasket for 150 lb ANSI pipe flange with (8) 5/8 inch dia Grade B7 bolts lubricated with a graphite based compound One pass torqueing: bolting efficiency = 50 percent four pass torqueing: bolting efficiency = 75 percent resulting gasket stress: one pass = 4782 four pass = 7173 result: 50 percent higher gasket stress with four pass torqueing
