About Thermo Scientific Orion Epoxy Body ROSS Combination
The Thermo Scientific Orion 8135BN ROSS Ultra general purpose combination pH electrode has an epoxy body for durability, a flat tip, and allows the user to change the fill solution. The flat tip of this electrode is good for measuring moist, solid, and semi-solid surfaces such as agar gel plates, foods, and other samples. ROSS pH electrodes have a glass fiber junction, and a waterproof Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection with a 1 m (39") cable. The electrodes have a patented internal reference to mimimize drift and equilibrium time, and are designed to allow the user to change the fill solution, depending on the sample requirements. The Orion 8135BN can be used on any pH meter with a BNC or U.S. standard connection. pH range is 0 to 14 (+ or - 0.01), temperature range is 0 to 100 degrees C and body dimensions are 120 mm long x 12 mm deep, with a 16 mm cap diameter. The electrode uses 3M KCl fill solution. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately. pH electrodes are used for measuring the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter.
