About Megger MIT515-US Insulation Tester, 10 Teraohms

The Megger MIT515-US insulation resistance tester measures insulation resistance, voltage, current, and capacitance in high-voltage electrical systems. This multiranging digital meter performs timed insulation resistance (IR), polarization index (PI), and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) tests. The unit measures insulation resistance from 10 kilohms to 10 teraohms, voltage from 30 to 660V alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC), current from 0.01nA to 6mA, and capacitance from 10 nanofarads to 25 microfarads. The unit has test voltages in 10V steps from 50V to 1,000V and in 25V steps from 1,000 to 5,000V. It also has 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, and 5,000V set test voltages. The tester is safety rated to European Standard EN61010-1, Category IV, 600V. It is Ingress Protection 65 (IP65)-rated to be dust tight and protection against water sprayed from 6.3mm jets. The MIT515-US is used by electricians, electrical contractors, and telecommunications workers.Specifications Insulation resistance range 10 kilohms to 10 teraohms Voltage range 30 to 660V AC/DC Current range 0.01nA to 6mA Capacitance range (above 500V) 10 nanofarads to 25 microfarads Power supply Rechargeable 11.1V Lithium-ion battery Weight 5.4kg / 10 lb. Safety standard met International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)/European Standards (EN) 61010-1 Cat IV 600V Mechanical standard met IP65, for complete protection from dust and water sprayed rom 6.3mm jets Dimensions 315 x 285 x 181mm / 12 x 11 x 7 inches (H x W x D)H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.Electrical test meters report electrical circuit properties, such as voltage, resistance, capacitance, and continuity. Available in handheld or benchtop form, they detect electrical problems in equipment, wiring, and power supplies. A variety of probes, clamps, and leads can be used to connect the meter to a circuit or device. Single-function meters, such as battery testers and voltage testers, measure one property of a circuit, and multimeters measure multiple properties. Electrical test meters display information either in analog form using a needle that moves on a calibrated scale, or in digital form using digits or a graphic representation on an LED screen. Meters have electrical properties that are to be measured and the anticipated range of results, and should have a rating that is higher than the maximum value of the anticipated range. An electrical test meter has multiple settings corresponding to potential ranges of values for the properties it can measure. A manual ranging meter requires the operator to flip through different settings until the correct range is reached. An autoranging meter cycles through range settings automatically until it reaches the correct range.
