About Literary Calligraphy “The Priestly
Susan hand-lettered these often-recited Bible verses in English and Hebrew in colorful concentric circles that traverse the color wheel. The Hebrew begins at 3 o'clock and reads counter-clockwise; the English verse starts at 9 o'clock and reads clockwise. The verses surround a colorful circle filled with the word peace (shalom) in Hebrew letters. The priestly blessing, recorded in Numbers 6: 24-26, is a benediction of protection, grace, and peace: “The Lord bless thee, and keep thee; The Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” Signed print produced from Susan Loy’s original watercolor includes bio and information sheet inserted with acid-free mat board into a clear plastic envelope.
