About Traditional Ethiopian Clay Coffee Pot

The item for sale is a regular size traditional Ethiopian clay coffee pot (jabana/Jebena) ,an earthenware that is used to brew and serve coffee in many parts of Ethiopia. It can also be used as a household decor item. This clay pot has a long neck and spherical base. The majority of Ethiopians to this date prefer to use this ancient earthenware to make their coffee. This pot can be used to brew coffee or as a house decorating item. Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee and home to some of the best varieties in the world. The coffee pot for sale comes with a basic pot pillow and a wooden lid you see in the pictures. PLEASE NOTE that we have used AVERAGE DIMENSIONS and SAMPLE PICTURES from our stock. Your order will be similar in appearance and dimensions. Each pot is individually handcrafted by local artisans in Ethiopia. In contrary to mass production,it reflects the artistic character of hand imperfections and individual variations. No two pots are exactly alike. PLEASE CHECK your cooktop before you buy this item. Ethiopian coffee pots often have spherical bottom and gas stoves with top burner grates are ideal for such type of utensils. Extra caution is needed If you use regular electric coil cooktop or electric smoothtop. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION; This is a new pot and it is advisable to brew 10 fl.oz. of coffee two times not for consumption but for allowing the inner walls of the pot absorb the coffee aroma. Many Ethiopians also advice boiling about 8-10 fl.oz of milk at first followed by 10 fl.oz of coffee (at least two times) before starting to use the coffee pot. Both the milk and coffee used for this step are not intended for consumption. CARE; Hand wash only- Do not use dish washing machine Use warm/cold water to clean the pot. Because of the porous nature of clay the use of dishwasher soap is not recommended
