You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners. I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. I especially ask of you the favor and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen. According to the book of Tobit from the Old Testament, God sent Raphael to Earth to help to Tobit, his son Tobias, and Sarah, Tobiah's betrothed. Sarah was a widow whose seven bridegrooms had each been killed by a demon on their wedding night. Rafael guided Tobias through a long journey, showed him how to safely marry Sarah, and pursued and bound the demon that plagued her. Rafael also cured Tobit's blindness and allowed him to see the light of heaven.
