About Guede Delta Bread Knife With African Blackwood

About Güde The production of the finest possible handcrafted, forged cutlery is and always has been the driving philosophy of our company. For four generations the Güde family has neither compromised on nor wavered from this credo. Today Güde is proud to continue the centuries old tradition of quality knifemaking for which the town of Solingen is justly world famous. Güde kitchen knives are produced in the center of the German knives world: Solingen. Meanwhile, the fourth generation is at the helm of the Güde-factory. For more than a century (since 1910!) these German quality kitchen knives are made. A lot of work is still done by hand. More than thirty steps in the production process require the eye of one of Güdes master knife makers. It was a conscious decision to choose hand work over mass production. The result is an exclusive kitchen knife that guarantees years of pleasant use in the professional or home kitchen. It's for good reason that Güde won many prizes with his kitchen knives. The Delta Series by Güde series of knives is also hand forged from one piece of corrosion-resistant chrome molybdenum vanadium knife steel and is perfected in more than 40 mostly manual process steps. As to be expected, the blade is hand sharpened as well. The handle shells, featuring a very classy design, are slightly raised and made of African Blackwood known as Grenadill in Germany. This wood species is one of the heaviest in the world and - due to its special characteristics – is also used for the manufacture of musical instruments. The handles are not dishwasher safe. The solid design and generous use of materials give the knives of the Delta series an unparalleled balance making cutting a special experience.
