Red alnico horseshoe magnet (2 inches high) with unmarked poles and a steel keeper. Alnico magnets are made up of Aluminum, Nickel, and Cobalt. They are very durable and ideal for a variety of science investigations. Did you know that a horseshoe magnet is simply a bar magnet that has been bent into a U shape, which positions the poles side by side for added strength? A horseshoe magnet can lift 3 times more than a bar magnet of the same size, weight, and material! Storage: Store horseshoe with keeper in place (to keep the magnetism in). Remove keeper before use. Store all magnets away from electronics, high heat, and direct sunlight. Usage tips: Avoid dropping and banging. Magnets that have been dropped or impacted by force can lose their magnetism--their inside domains can get misaligned. Child safety tested for ages 8+/grades 3+.
