The calibrated Mitutoyo 500-505-10CAL Absolute Digimatic digital caliper is for measuring inside/outside diameters, depth, and step of items in harsh workshop conditions. This caliper has a measurement range of 0 to 18" (0 to 450mm), resolution of 0.0005" (0.01mm), and an accuracy of + or - 0.002". The LCD screen displays in inches and metric units. This unit has an Absolute electrostatic capacitance-type linear encoder for accurate measurements and a 630mm body length for measuring larger items. The jaws are constructed of stainless steel for durability. Mitutoyo calibrated tools include a Certificate of Calibration that provides evidence that the tool has been calibrated and is within allowable error specifications. Mitutoyo calibrated tools are certified by Mitutoyo's American Association for Laboratory Accreditation-accredited calibration laboratory (A2LA Certificate #750-01) to the International Organization for Standardization/International Electrotechnical Commission (ISO/IEC) 17025 International Standard for testing and calibration laboratories. Additional functions offered by this model include absolute measurement, incremental measurement, and low-voltage alert. This caliper has a battery life of approximately 3.5 years of normal use. One jaw is fixed to the end of the scale, while the other jaw slides along it with gearless precision to take measurements. The reading is electronically generated and displayed on a digital, high-resolution screen as a single value. Digital calipers can take differential measurements, which are used to determine the difference in measurements between two objects, by zeroing the display at any point along the scale.
