About Starrett Telescoping Gage With One Arm - Ideal For

The Starrett 229 Telescoping Gage is used for determining the true size of holes, slots, and recesses up to 6" (150mm). The ends of both contacts are hardened and ground to a radius to allow proper clearance on the smallest hole the gage will enter. This tool must be slightly rocked in the hole being measured to ensure that the tool is on the proper diameter before it is locked and withdrawn. The final hole size is obtained by measuring over the gage contacts with a micrometer. 1 1/4"-2 1/8" (32-54mm) Range, 2 3/8" (60mm) Handle. Hole gages help determine the diameter of a hole. While their function is similar to bore gages, they are less precise, much simpler tools that require measurement of a transferred dimension. Starrett Precision Hand Tools have been the standard for high quality dimensional measuring tools. The L.S. Starrett Company, founded in 1880, manufactures more than 5,000 variations of Precision Tools, Gages, Measuring Instruments and Saw Blades for industrial, professional and consumer markets worldwide.
