Each tablet contains 550 mg of active sulphite per tablet. Two crushed tablets equal 1/4 teaspoon. This is Potassium metabisulfite in tablet form. One crushed tablet treats one gallon. Two tablets in a 32oz spray bottle for use on equipment and instruments. Also used to prevent oxidation in wine and by brewers to clear chlorine from tap water. Tablets do not dissolve easily, crush into a powder before dosing. Made from potassium metabisulphite, Campden Tablets were originally developed in the town of Chipping Campden in England to preserve fruits and vegetables. The Boots Company was the first to market them as a convenient way to accurately sulphite wine.
