Sweet Wormwood Seeds Artemisia Annua, Sweet Annie Features

  • SUN & SOIL: Sweet wormwood prefers low-nutrient, dry, well-drained, and warm soils, and can survive in a range of light conditions from constant sunshine to partial shade.

  • WATER: Sweet wormwood is easy to care for and only needs to be watered a little when young. After the plant has developed a good root system, you can usually stop watering.

  • WHEN TO PLANT: Sow seed indoors six weeks before the last frost and transplant after all danger of frost. Or direct sow on bare soil in the fall.

  • GERMINATION: At room temperature with sufficient humidity, the seeds germinate after two to four weeks.

  • HARVEST: Cut off the woody branches with a sturdy pair of pruning shears as soon as the flower buds show a hint of yellow. You can then hang the plant in bundles to let it dry in the sun or at 40 °C in the oven.

About Sweet Wormwood Seeds Artemisia Annua, Sweet Annie

Sweet Annie is a robust plant that does not require much maintenance once established. It thrives in poor soil conditions and makes a great choice for areas where other plants may suffer. Although it is an annual variety, these plants readily reseed themselves. Harvesting the flowers and seed pods before they release the seeds will help prevent unwanted spread. To harvest the flowers, simply cut the flowering branch just as the first yellow blossoms are opening. Add these to bouquets or tie them up and hang them upside down in a well-ventilated, dark place for drying.
