About I Have A Leech

Frilly the Frog is as happy as an amphibian can be! That is, until she comes up from her swim to realize that there’s a big, black leech stuck to her back! She tries her best to pull it off, only to discover that it won’t budge one bit! Faced with a new reality, Frilly must learn to accept this new life and embrace her discomfort. Unfortunately for Frilly, it’s not easy. The other frogs make fun of her. She only wants to lay in her bed and cry. It’s tough having such a big burden on your shoulders. But Frilly isn’t alone. She has a mommy frog who loves her and wants to see her smile. Frilly’s mother reminds her of all the love she has to give. She shows Frilly that the scary things in her life don’t define who she is. Soon, Frilly realizes just how good life can be, even in spite of the things that weigh her down. Frilly starts to look at life differently. She accepts that she is different, but she understands that the scary things don’t define her. Her uniqueness is special, and by the end of the story she begins to embrace it! Frilly no longer cries over her leech. In fact, she can smile about it! She now knows that she has friends and family who love her the way that she is. If they can look past the changes, she can too. The story ends with Frilly addressing the reader to let them know that it’s okay to feel their scary feelings and to remember that they are loved.
