About Tiffen 4x5.65 Smoque #1, Smoke FX Glass Filter

The ÂTiffen 4 x 5.65" Smoque Filter Âcan be applied to simulate the presence of smoke within a frame or scene. It can be used to substitute typical theatrical smoke generators such as smoke cookies, chips, pellets, grenades, or aerosols. This filter can also be used to supplement the use of such smoke generators to help provide a consistent appearance of smoke, particularly if wind or other conditions prevent physical smoke from settling or staying within a frame or scene. The use of physical smoke is associated with the release of solid particles into the air. By lessening or eliminating the release of those particles, a more predictable and comfortable photo or film set can be maintained. Grades of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 2, 3, and 4 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" Smoque Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and is compatible with filter holders that can accommodate 4mm-thick, 4 x 5.65" rectangular filters. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.
