By taking a sighting on the stars or sun, and also using a compass, a skilled navigator could tell fairly accurately where they were, both longitude and latitude . This particular reproduction is of the style used for many decades by the british navy, and has been given an antique finish. While this is a working model and can be used for demonstration purposes, it is not recommended for actual navigation.
