This is a beautiful souvenir program from the Original Broadway production of the RICHARD RODGERS and OSCAR HAMMERSTEIN II musical hit "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" which played the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City. (The production opened November 16th, 1959 and ran for 1433 performances.) ..... The musical starred MARY MARTIN and featured THEODORE BIKEL, PATRICIA NEWAY, KURT KASZNAR, MARION MARLOWE, JOHN RANDOLPH, NAN McFARLAND, LAURI PETERS, BRIAN DAVIES, MARILYN ROGERS, MURIEL O'MALLEY, ELIZABETH HOWELL and KAREN SHEPARD ..... Side Note: "THE SOUND OF MUSIC" tied with the Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick musical "FIORELLO!" in four different 1960 Tony Award categories including "Best Musical" .....
