About MUSEUM REPRODUCTIONS Egyptian Bastet Cat Ring

Cats were considered sacred in ancient Egypt. They represented Bastet, the cat-headed goddess of Bubastis, a city in the northeastern delta of Lower Egypt. Originally linked to the sun god Re, Bastet came to be associated with the life preserving power of the sun, the protection of women, felicity and joy. These are plated rings, please do not wear for a prolonged time in water, especially swimming pools. We also recommend removing before exercise or using lotion and/or hair products. The rings can be damaged from exposure to these items. Museum Reproductions Once available only to museums, our jewelry is now available for you! Much of our jewelry is created under license from some of the most prestigious museum collections around the world. We are proud to be a leading source of museum jewelry reproductions for over 50 years.
