During World War II, the US Marine corps had soldiers stationed in the Philippines. Marines adopted the word "bundok", which meant "mountain, jungle, or anywhere remote." The soldiers needed a boot that was durable and comfortable to march the terrain during war. They wore trench boots which were given the nickname "boondockers." The boondocker style shoe became the official working shoe of the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II . Today we've transformed this iconic boot and given it a modern twist, while retaining the essence of it's functionality. Given the appearance of a fascinating boot, how it is constructed is more than you would expect from a mid-century style shoe. The boot starts off with a pig skin collar which gives the boot a luxurious look compared to other unlined boots. Your foot will rest upon our most comfortable arch supporting insole and a steel shank, giving extra support through the middle of the boot. The outside of the boot features a crepe outsole that is oil- and slip-resistant. Around the boot is our famous Goodyear Welt Construction that ensures your boot to last twice as long. Durability, comfort, protection, and style are what you can expect from our Golden Fox 6" Boondocker.
