Did that ever happen to you? Some experience compelled you to pursue an unexpected path? When I was about 7 years old, my beloved dog Toby was sent to the shelter for killing the neighbor's cat. I still weep thinking about that. This book was written in his memory and dedicated to PREVENTING that from happening with other pets. That's how this book came to be, but several "happy accidents" along the way brought me to that point. First, I interviewed for a vet tech spot (happened during a Chihuahua's emergency C-section!), and discovered a love of veterinary medicine and animal behavior. Second, it turned out I had a knack for translating "medicalese" into language us regular pet lovers could understand, and I began writing personal experience stories for pet magazines. Third, I got an assignment on how to introduce cats and dogs--and there was WAY too much fascinating info for one short article. The rest, as they say, is history. And after writing this first ComPETability book focused on bringing cats and dogs together in harmony, I wrote two more in the series: ComPETability: Solving Behavior Problems in Your Multi-CAT Household, and ComPETability: Solving Behavior Problems in Your Multi-DOG Household. My prayer is that they keep you and your pets safe, happy and loved!
