About Vincent Bach And His Trumpets

When Vincenz Schrottenbach and his wife Leopoldina Kapeller celebrated the birth of their first of three male children, whom they named after his father, on March 24th 1890, it should have been suspected that the future of music was changing. Vincent Bach became a true twentieth-century man. Schooled as a machinist and engineer, talented and practiced as a musician, he was a consummate professional, an artist on the stage, and a hands-on business leader who let nothing, not even two world wars and being trapped behind enemy lines, stand between him and success in everything he undertook. His first instruments would have been called “boutique trumpets” had he started making them today, but as that small elite craft operation expanded through constant innovation over time to one of significant scale, Vincent Bach never allowed the quality standards to slip or the reputation to be assailed. His trumpets became the standard by which all others are qualified today, and his mouthpieces the most copied format of all time. His life, and his company, are an example of just what determination and talent working together can achieve.
