OVERVIEW Teton Supply Co Teton-Bond 190 is an ultra-fine Petrobond* clay based foundry sand intended for demanding applications such as jewelry, precision mechanical components, and ornamental castings. Teton-Bond 190 is professionally formulated, produced, and quality inspected in the USA from US-sourced ingredients. This sand is also olivine-based which provides an improved safety profile and performance charactaristics compared to (cheaper) silica-based products. We feel that the 190 mesh composition gives the optimal balance of permeability and mold detail reproduction for even the most demanding uses. APPLICATION NOTES -This product has much in common with Delft clay in terms of usability and appropriate techniques. -Sand near the pattern should be meticiously riddled (broken up). -Moderately heavy ramming or pressing is suggested for best results. -Parting and pattern compound should be used. A high-performance parting compound such as Teton-Part or similar is recommended. APPLICATION NOTES -This sand, like all properly-formulated petrobond-based sand is cold sensitive. This means it will become dry and/or powdery if exposed to cold during shipping and storage. -If dry, sand may be easily regenerated by using a small amount of rubbing alcohol or heating. Adding oil is generally not recommended except for in extreme cases or where sand must be used in non-ideal temperature conditions (less than 65F). -This sand is reusable with the exception of a small amount of grey crispy sand that forms around the casting. Note that only the grey section of the sand need be discarded--the black section can be safely reused. It is normal for a Teton-Bond pile to darken with use. VOLUME/WEIGHT INFO -10 lb equals approx 200 cubic inches (6"X6"X6" cube) when moderately compressed. *=Petrobond is a registered trademark of Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.
