About DIY 9" Drop Avalon Cornice Kits

Assemble - Light weight, Styrofoam sections are glued together with a full-sized low temp glue gun. Decorate - Tuck the fabric in the grooves. Hang - Mount the brackets on the wall and push the cornice onto them. That's all there is to it! View our videos to see how easy it is. The Avalon Cornice is offered in 9", 12", and 15" drop (height). To determine what drop works for you, use an 8½ X 11 sheet of paper. Hold the paper horizontally so that it’s at the cornice location. From across the room, see how it looks; this mimics our 9" drop cornice. Next, rotate the paper so that it's vertical; this mimics our 12" cornice. If it looks too big, order our 9" cornice. If it’s just right, order our 12" cornice. If it’s too small, order our 15" cornice. This is the Avalon 9" Drop. If the 12" or 15" Drop Avalon Cornice or the 9", 12". or 15" Drop Cosmopolitan (flat front surface) would look better, please contact us for pricing. To determine the cornice length: 1) measure the inside of your opening and add 2" on each side (called the overlap). See the picture of a window showing Opening, Left and Right overlaps. 2) If your opening has molding around it, measure the outside of the molding on the left side to the outside of the molding on the right side and add 1". 3) If you have a curtain rod or vertical blinds that your cornice will cover, measure it’s length and add 1". Pick the longest measurement from the 3 options above. This is the length of your cornice. The outside length is the cornice length PLUS the thickness of the 2 end caps (2”+2”). Our Avalon 9" Drop Starter Kit contains (see the picture with the yellow tuck tool): 3 extension pieces, 2 end caps, 1 tuck tool, 2 brackets, screws and anchors, and set of instructions If your cornice length is more than 49 ½", order additional extension kits to achieve your length.
