A garrison cap (in the United States), field service or wedge cap (in Canada), or forage cap (in the United Kingdom) is a foldable military cap with straight sides and a creased or hollow crown sloping to the back. In the USSR armed forces pilotka was worn by both men and women. Officers and ensigns (warrant officers) wore caps with the edges of the respective branch of the armed forces colors. Officers wore caps with a cockade, and sailors - with an asterisk. It offers the most common type of cap in military uniform used by the red Army during the Second world war and after it until the 1990s. The military cap was worn in the summer season instead of winter hat. It continues to be worn in modern Russia, although more in the air force and Navy, especially among underwater personnel, where its compactness plays a major role. The USSR military cap is comfortable and practical, made of cotton. This soldier's side cap, or pilotka is a great-looking present for any man! The cap is put on with a slight inclination to the right side so that the lower edge of the cap is at the level of the upper edge of the right ear; the star should be in the middle of the front seam of the cap. Introduced by order of the USSR People's Commissar of Defense No. 176 of December 3, 1935. A pilot's cap is made of woolen fabric, similar to a jacket (tunic).
