The ionization smoke alarm may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms; Kidde recommends installing both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms for maximum detection. Two 9-volt batteries (included) power the smoke detector and light, so it provides your home and family with reliable detection even during a power outage. When smoke is detected, an 85-decibel alarm sounds and the safety light on the fire alarm illuminates, helping to guide you and your family to safety when dense smoke is present. This smoke alarm is particularly suited for installation in hallways, stairwells, and near exits to help guide everyone to safety. It also includes a Hush feature that temporarily silences nuisance alarms along with a test button that allows you to test that the alarm's electronic circuitry, horn, and battery are working.
