Assemble the appropriate instrument using the pictures on the previous page as a guide. Most importantly be sure the bite-block (film holder) is centered in the aiming ring.
Position the patient by moving the chair or the patient¡¯s face to allow you to comfortably bring the X-ray tube up to the instrument aiming ring. The RAPD instrument¡¯s indicator arm will be parallel to the X-ray tube.
Expose the film and remove it for developing.

Most importantly be sure the bite-block (film holder) is centered in the aiming ring. 2, Insert the desired size film in the bite-block. To insert the film in the bite-block, slightly bend beck the vertical part of the holder and insert the film so that the film edge sits on the bottom of the bite block. The vertical part will return to its original position holding the film in place. Be sure the correct side of the film faces the x-ray in the white side and that the film is centered in the aiming ring. 3, Place the bite-block with the film into the patient¡¯s mouth an far back as possible (the mid tongue area). Center the film on the teeth to be x-rayed. Refer to the diagrams on the previous page for placement. A cotton roll can be placed between the bite-block and the opposite teeth to ensure the bite-block doesn¡¯t shift. Instruct the patient to bite down to hold the instrument in place. 4, Position the patient by moving the chair or the patient¡¯s face to allow you to comfortably bring the X-ray tube up to the instrument aiming ring.
