YES ASTRAL TRAVELLER
Yes, the most important group in the history of progressive rock, brings together their BBC sessions on this album, Astral Traveller. Yes appeared in its orginal formation, with Jon Anderson on vocals, Chris Squire on bass, Bill Bruford on drums, Tom Kaye on the keyboard and Peter Banks on the guitar and brings together tracks from their first eponymous album of 1969 as well as Time And A Word, their second opus of 1970 and a track that was released years later on the compilation Yesterdays (Dear Father) as well as unreleased tracks Something's Coming and For Everyone. Here we find a powerful band with a carnal force that is unlike their technical precise style of later years, yet full of new ideas and risks. Astral Traveller is a stimulating album, which clearly shows how the instruments of classic rock (guitar, bass, drums and keyboard) can create new music that is both brave and intelligent.
