FOLLOWS STANDARD QUEEN REARING STANDARDS - Particular colors are used depending on the year, but they do not have to be followed exactly, but it does make it easy to remember. Green for years that end with 4 and 9. Blue for 5 and 0. White for 1 and 6. Yellow for 2 and 7. Red for 3 and 8. SAFE FOR QUEENS - The water-based, acrylic paint pen is the industry standard for marking queen safely with non-toxic paint. The paint has no side effects on the hive operation and bees and queens will continue to work. EASY TO USE - Shaking the pen back and forth will mix the paint in the pen and by pressing and holding the tip down, a small amount of paint will fill the tip just enough to mark the queen. Test the marker on a hard surface before using it on a queen. It’s important to just put the minimum amount of paint necessary to mark the queen.
