Nested set for easy storage
15 different sizes

Multiple different uses
Individual handles
This set of 15 nested sizes cork borers is made of nickel-plated brass, and comes with a solid pin for assisting in the removal of the undesired piece of cork or rubber from the borer. Each individual borer features its own handle at one end, and a small tapered edge at the other for cutting into the cork or rubber. They are typically used in a chemistry or biology setting for cutting a hole in a cork or rubber stopper and then inserting glass tubing. Because most rubber stoppers are available with one or two holes, the borer tends to be used to increase the size of the hole to accommodate larger pieces of tubing, while with cork stoppers it is used to create the hole. Cork borers can also be used by dendrochronologists for taking samples from living trees for a tree ring analysis, or for experiments where a constant diameter is required. They have also found use with punching holes in the agar of an agar plate, as well as performing well diffusion assays in microbiology.
