About D’Addario Select Jazz Tenor Sax
Five filed replacement reeds for the serious jazz player. Select Jazz reeds feature the thickest spine and blank of D'Addario's jazz reeds, with a traditional tip shape. The Select Jazz cut offers great projection, focus and a vibrant sound. They are available in both filed and unfiled models. The debate rages on in saxophone forums all across the web. Filed, or unfiled? The conventional wisdom is that the unfiled are a little less bright, but that they can be pushed to achieve the brightness they fail to display right out of the gate. As to whether that characteristic is an attribute or a detriment, or as to whether that is even an accurate characterization is ultimately up to the individual player. Offered in third strengths, rather than half strengths, so players can choose the most precise strength for their individual equipment.
