The TAMA HPDS1TW is a direct drive bass double drum pedal that's part of their newly-created Dyna-Sync line (Dynamic Synchronization System). TAMA's tireless product team has strongly directed their activity toward direct-drive bass drum pedals. These pedals provide a unique benefit - immediate energy conversion leading to accelerated beater movement. However, the team took advantage of the opportunity to design a direct-drive pedal with perfect balance and alignment of three critical performance elements: Power/Speed/Feel. Three critical design components have been identified by the team: the direct-drive linkage, the drive cam, and the drive/footboard connection angle. They then worked closely with a group of stylistically diverse TAMA artists to further enhance understanding of what high-level players want and need from a direct-drive pedal. The back-and-forth product team/artist collaboration enabled the mastering of subtle mechanical relationships along with angle alignments, ultimately uncovering a design method that overcomes feel and power challenges that seemed inherent to some other direct-drive pedals. This mechanical design has been dubbed the Dynamic Synchronization System (Dyna-Sync). The Dyna-Sync pedal series defines a new power-speed-feel balance in a direct-drive pedal and shatters previous assumptions. TAMA is thrilled to offer drummers of all styles and abilities the opportunity to utilize the wide range of pedal adjustments to discover a differentiated direct-drive feel.
