About Tygon 2275 Smooth-Bore High Purity PVC

This plastic tubing is made of plasticizer-free Tygon formulation 2275 plastic and is suitable for transferring sensitive fluids, such as pharmaceutical solutions, without compromising the fluid's purity. The Tygon formulation 2275 plastic tubing is clear for visual monitoring of fluids. This construction also provides chemical resistance to acids, bases, salts, alcohols, and ketones, and contains no plasticizers such as Di(2-ethlhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), which could leach out and contaminate transferred fluids. A smooth, non-wetting inner surface limits particulate build-up and limits absorption and adsorption to further preserve fluid integrity. Whereas some types of tubing release hazardous byproducts like chlorine when incinerated, this tubing releases only carbon dioxide and water when incinerated for a less-toxic means of disposal. It can be used in single- or repeat-use applications, and sterilized with ethylene oxide (ETO), steam, chemicals, or radiation. The tubing has a working temperature range of -94 to 125 degrees F and a durometer (hardness) of 72 A. This plastic tubing is rated as very flexible as it bends more easily than flexible or rigid tubing. It meets U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP) Class VI and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) CRF21 177.1520 criteria for medical grade plastic materials for quality assurance. The plastic tubing is not designed for use as an implant material, but is suitable for transferring water, air, food and beverages, and ethylene glycol, and for use in parenteral and drug infusion sets, sterile filling and dispensing, and cell and tissue culture transporting, among other applications. Plastic tubing is used to transfer liquids, air, or solids, and it is characterized by a round, rectangular, or square shape and a hollow center. Plastic tubing is crimp-resistant and varies in bend radius (flexibility), chemical resistance, wall thickness, durometer hardness, and temperature and pressure handling abilities. The clarity of plastic tubing may be transparent (clear), translucent (semi-clear), or opaque (solid), and the tubing's coloring may indicate suitable applications. Barbed fittings are used to connect tubing or redirect flow in a fluid handling system. Plastic tubing is used in a wide variety of industries, such as agriculture, automotive, laboratory, and medicine. Applications for plastic tubing include blood and fluid handling, peristaltic pumps, electrical and thermal insulation, analytical systems, and food and beverage handling, among others. Saint-Gobain Corporation manufactures plastic tubing for the food and beverage, chemical processing, industrial, laboratory, medical, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor processing industries under the Tygon brand in the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics sector. Founded in 1665, the company is headquartered in Courbevoie, France, and operates 45 plastics manufacturing sites worldwide.
