About Anvil 2159 Forged Steel Pipe Fitting, Class

The Anvil 2159 class 3000 reducing insert pipe fitting is made of forged steel and has socket-weld connections. This reducing insert has one end smaller than the other for connecting two unthreaded pipes with different diameters. It has female socket-weld ends with internal shoulders for connecting to unthreaded pipe ends. The joined pieces are welded together to create a tight seal against leaks. This fitting is made of steel for weldability and rust resistance and is forged to increase the material's strength and resistance to mechanical shock and vibration. This class 3000 fitting has thick walls for resisting cracks and leaks in piping systems under high pressure. Class is a standard relating to tolerance, construction, dimension, and wall thickness, but it is not a direct measurement of maximum working pressure. This fitting meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) A105 and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/American National Standards Institute (ANSI) B16.11 specifications for quality assurance. Pipe fittings are components used for connecting, terminating, controlling flow, and changing the direction of piping in many different industries. When purchasing pipe fittings, consider the application, as this will affect material type, shape, size, and required durability. Fittings are available threaded or unthreaded, in many shapes, styles, sizes, and schedules (pipe wall thickness). Anvil International provides pipe products and design services. The company, founded in 1850 and headquartered in Portsmouth, NH, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 standards and is certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API). Its fittings meet American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) specifications.
