The label specializes in music that intertwines Native American and contemporary instrumental elements, and the assembled talent here---flutist R. Carlos Nakai, pianist Peter Kater, vocalist Joanne Shenandoah, plus a single selection from Robert Mirabal--showcase the affecting, organic appeal of such an approach. Label cornerstones Nakai and Kater evoke some of the disc's most thoughtful moments in eloquent ensemble pieces such as "I Will Fight No More" and "If Men Were at Peace" (the latter featuring Paul McCandless on soprano saxophone and cellist David Darling), and Shenandoah's unforced, crystalline vocalese can inspire stillness and quiet.
