He attended the MacPhail College of Music and the University of Minnesota, with further studies at the American Boy-Choir School at Princeton, St. John's Abbey, and the Royal School of Church Music. Richard has served as a consultant for several recent hymnals of various denominations and as a member of the Standing Commisison on Church Music of the Episcopal Church, and as a founding member of both the Conference of the Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians and the Society for Catholic Liturgy. He has been composer-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. Madeleine in Salt Lake City, Utah and at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne, Australia. He has also been involved in workshop and conducting engagements througout the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand. Since 1994, Richard has been a freelance composer and conductor, concentratin on recording and writing. Product Description A collection of sacred music by one of the United States' eminent composers, Richard Proulx. The concertato on Love Is His Word, a haunting and lyrical text and tune by the late Calvin Hampton, is a definite highlight. The Six Choral Introits are stunning and versatile in usage. Jan Vermulst's People's Mass receives a full scoring and instrumentation in a setting befitting this universally known Mass.
