In the two books, Holy Blood, Holy Grail, (1982), and The Messianic Legacy, (1986), both books by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh, and Henry Lincoln, there is mention made of Blanche of Castile, and a genealogy parchment dated 1244, bearing the seal of Blanche of Castile. This parchment was said to be one of four parchments discovered in 1891 by Berenger Sauniere, priest of the parish church of Mary Magdalene, in the French village of Rennes-Le-Chateau, near the southern border of France. These four parchments were said to be discovered when Berenger Sauniere was repairing and rebuilding and renovating the parish church of Rennes-Le-Chateau. Two of the parchments were described as genealogies, the first parchment dated 1244, bearing the seal of Blanche of Castile, and the second parchment dated 1644, by Francois-Pierre d'Hautpoul, Lord of Rennes-Le-Chateau. Much of the story about Berenger Sauniere, and Rennes-Le-Chateau, and the later Priory of Sion, were revealed to the public by persons associated with the Priory of Sion, who deposited various documents in the National Library of France, and who gave documents to various book authors, from the 1960's to the 1980's. This present book will give a brief history of Berenger Sauniere and the genealogy parchments that he discovered, and their relationship to the Plantard family of Pierre Plantard of the Priory of Sion. Later pages of this present book will give ten ancestral genealogy lines of some ancestors of Blanche of Castile, as described in a standard genealogical reference, listed in the bibliography.
