Col. Adrian Scroop Scrope Issued c.1810, London Fine original antique engraved portrait print. Printed on quality handmade paper which retains its inherent structural flexibility and soundness. The print has had the blank margins trimmed and then expertly mounted along the edges to a thicker blank paper frame, enhancing the size of the margins. This mounting allows the print paper to be mostly visible from the back, as it is only attached by a very thin narrow sliver of paper. This type of mounting is often seen on old prints which were used to extra-illustrate a book long ago, and the sheet sizes needed to be uniform to do so. In about VG or better condition, normal minor light age toning to sheet, and some small scattered foxing, overall the image is clean and very attractive, please inspect visual scan closely [note: we grade very conservatively and always seek to disclose any noteworthy flaws]. The printed area remains visually pleasing, a nice impression of an interesting image. Any minor defects along the sheet edges and in the margins may be seen in the photos. Sheet measures c. 9 3/4" W x 12 3/8" H. Engraved area measures c. 2 3/4" W x 3 5/8" H. [62545]
