An annual vining, climbing plant reaching 108 inches in USDA zones 3 - 10. Ipomoea nil is a variety from Japan, and this particular one is called Blue Picotee.

The color is a dark blue with a pronounced purple star and white edges, and the blooms measure over 5 inches across. Morning Glory also has lovely foliage, deep green, heart-shaped leaves that provide the perfect back-drop for the colorful blooms. Morning Glory seed has a hard seed coat.

Germination is usually within 21 days. In areas with a late spring, the seed can be started indoors and transplanted outside when the seedlings have 2 – 3 leaves.
