This traditional hot pepper is a prolific producer of 2 to 3-inch long peppers that ripen bright red. The slender fruits grow upright in clusters from a compact plant that gets to be 16 high. Thai Bird Chili pepper is perfect for spicing up soups, sauces, curries or stir-fries. Its also good for drying to use as a condiment. Fresh peppers can be easily frozen to use throughout the year. The hot heirloom chili from Thailand, these peppers are used in almost every dish in old Siam. Small pointed fruit are easy to dry and bright red in color. The Thais love the pungent heat. For this reason, the pepper plants need to be placed in an area where afternoon shade is possible. This will prevent scalding from the sun. The peppers will require regular watering with non-chlorinated water. Rain or well water is suggested. Never over-water the plants. The soil should only be moist and not wet.
