Comfrey roots will break up compacted soil, mulch trees and shrubs, and the leaves can be used to make a wonderful compost tea. Comfrey is a hardy perennial growing between 36 - 42 inches high. It grows well in most soils in Zones 4 -9 and can be cut (and come again) three or four times in a growing season. Germination can be erratic and take up to three weeks. Germination is best at 68 75 F. Zones: 4 - 9 Water: Moderate Light: Full Sun/Part Shade Sow in spring or fall. Soak seeds in water in the fridge for 48 hours or more, then sow seeds on top of warm potting soil at 68-75F and tamp down firmly. Keep moist and in gentle and warm light. Germination 10-30 days.
