Grow a garden filled with Ground Cherry Tomatillo fruits, from freshly harvested Physalis peruviana seeds. Ground Cherry, also known as Cape Gooseberry, or Golden Berry is a variety of Tomatillo that is used for preserves, jellies and jams. The fruits are about 1 inch in diameter and boast an unusual, yet sweet flavoring, which is a cross between a pineapple and a tomato. The plants themselves will grow to a mature height of roughly 2 or 3 feet tall, producing high yields of small, paper husked, golden cherries, through the Summer months. Ground Cherry Tomatillo is categorized as an annual variety. This means that the plants will grow quickly, producing flowers, fruits and seeds all within a single growing season. Check out our Tomatillo seed category for additional varieties, including "Purple Tomatillo" and "Grande Rio Verde."
