Start indoors: Yellow chrysanthemum seeds should be started indoors, in trays or pots, about 6-8 weeks before the last expected frost date in your area. Use a seed-starting mix and sow the seeds on the surface of the soil, gently pressing them down.
Water: Water the soil gently to avoid disturbing the seeds. Cover the container with plastic wrap to create a mini-greenhouse effect, which will help the soil retain moisture.
Provide light: Chrysanthemum seeds require light to germinate, so make sure to place the trays or pots in a bright, sunny location or under grow lights.
Thin seedlings: Once the seedlings are a few inches tall and have several sets of true leaves, thin them out by snipping off the weaker ones with scissors. Leave only the strongest seedlings in each pot or tray.
Transplant: Choose a well-draining location in full sun or partial shade. Dig a hole that is slightly larger than the root ball of the seedling and carefully place the plant into the hole. Backfill with soil and water well.
